Including Badges, Leaderboards & Other Fun Elements to E-learning Courses

E-learning Courses

In today’s fast-paced corporate world, getting new hires who are efficient enough for the organization is most important than ever. An effective online onboarding program helps to streamline the workforce through a continuous process which will make them more productive. Most of automobile companies address the challenge to train their new hires. Consequently, they fail to engage and retain their employees because they lack implementing a powerful onboarding strategy. As per the study, induction programs can accelerate employee performance by 11.5%, with 66% of employees who participate in this program being likely to retain for more than three years. Adopting Game-based Approach to Meet the Business Need

Learning is a long-time journey, while onboarding is the starting point for that journey to take place. With increasing use of personalized mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, the success rate of delivering training at the point of need has also improved. The current business need of the automobile sector is to reduce the overall cycle time of training, reduce the dependency on senior leadership to give overview sessions in-person and also add a fun element to the entire onboarding experience. So, there are several challenges faced by this industry while training the new hires through a classroom-based session:

  • The lengthy instructor-led training sessions are quite boring and less engaging.
  • An average of 13-day continuous ILT sessions is monotonous for the learners.
  • These also require business heads to be physically present to give overview sessions of their departments.

To address all these challenges, G-Cube proposed a unique game-based solution to give an experience of a complete game parlor for the automobile workforce. It was a blend of different modalities including classroom interactivities, video messages by the leaders, fun activities such as badges, digital leaderboards, theme-based classrooms, game stories and more. These elements boosted the overall engagement and retention levels of employees, along with enhancing the overall learning uptake. The overall blended program served a plethora of benefits which include:

  • The overall game-based approach improved team building and collaboration among peers.
  • When the new hire had to undergo a pre-assessment, they became more skilled in handling real-life workplace situations.
  • Engaging video games were also included to optimize employee engagement. Employees could choose from different game modules on company services, culture or corporate history, followed by a quiz to assess an individual’s performances.

The onboarding process is different for every enterprise as business goals, job skills and needs vary. Apart from Automobile, G-Cube has delivered game-based onboarding solutions for various other sectors including healthcare, BFSI and more. Undoubtedly, optimizing the onboarding process by incorporating games helps to retain the top talent and get the best out of new hires from their first day of joining to the end of their employment.
