Cost effective solution for FMCG Sector

Multi Lingual E- Learning Solution

Pepsi case study

Client requirement

  • The Client needed a cost effective solution, especially with the kind of attrition that the FMCG sector experiences.
  • The training also had to create a window of assessment, as the Client wanted a clear picture of how effective was the program.

Challenges

  • The initial hurdle was an anticipated one – that of unfamiliarity of the second learner group with the medium.
  • Another hurdle was to reach out to the large numbers of this group. Most of the merchandising staff is not on the rolls of the organization and on contract basis. Bringing them all to the corporate offices was not a practical solution
  • Language proved to be a problem too, for this training for conducted Pan-India and many pockets were not familiar with English or even Hindi.
  • The merchandising staff needed to be equipped with some material to refresh their learning from time to time

Solution

  • On account of the two distinct learner groups, the training was split in two, with a separate section for both groups
  • 3D visualization was used to create a virtual shop where learners practiced their skills.
  • The content included Technical Terms (for instance, Adjacency or Fair Share of shelf) which needed to be explained in an easy-to- grasp manner. This was done in an experiential exercise- through visuals and multimedia
  • As opposed to traditional placement-maps or planograms, 3D visualization of different shop structures was created and the best possible product merchandising options were demonstrated. This was a practical exercise in product placement without actually visiting any shops!

Result

  • Both groups gained immensely from the learning experience
  • The option of choosing from 4 regional languages proved to be the apt solution, where different groups could view the training as per the choice of their language.
  • Experiential learning provided skill building opportunities and the learners were able to attain sales targets better
